रूसी सेना ने यूक्रेन के पश्चिमी हिस्से में विदेशी हथियारों की सप्लाई चेन को टारगेट करते हुए हमले किए हैं। रूसी सेना ने देश के पूर्वी हिस्से में भी अपने आक्रमणों को तेज कर दिया है। इस बीच यूरोपीय संघ ने युद्ध के लिए रूस को दंडित करने के मकसद से तेल आयात पर प्रतिबंध का प्रस्ताव रखा है। रूसी सेना ने बुधवार को कहा कि उसने यूक्रेन में पांच रेलवे स्टेशनों पर बिजली सुविधाओं को नष्ट करने के लिए समुद्र और हवा से प्रक्षेपित मिसाइलों का इस्तेमाल किया, जबकि तोपखाने और विमानों ने भी सैन्य अड्डों, ईंधन और गोला-बारूद डिपो पर हमला किया। रूसी सेना ने मारियुपोल में एक इस्पात संयंत्र की घेराबंदी कर रखी है जहां से पिछले कुछ दिनों में कई नागरिकों को निकाला गया था। एक रूसी अधिकारी ने इस बात से इनकार किया कि वे संयंत्र पर हमला कर रहे हैं। यूक्रेनी सैनिकों की तरफ से दावा किया गया था कि रूसी सैनिक प्लांट पर धावा बोल रहे हैं।

The Russian military has launched attacks targeting foreign arms supply chains in the western part of Ukraine. The Russian army has also intensified its attacks in the eastern part of the country. Meanwhile, the European Union has proposed a ban on oil imports aimed at punishing Russia for the war. The Russian military said on Wednesday it used sea and air-launched missiles to destroy power facilities at five railway stations in Ukraine, while artillery and planes also attacked military bases, fuel and ammunition depots. The Russian military has laid siege to a steel plant in Mariupol from where several civilians were evacuated in the past few days. A Russian official denied they were attacking the plant. Ukrainian troops claimed that Russian troops were attacking the plant.

इस बीच, यूक्रेन के अधिकारियों ने कहा कि पूर्वी डोनबास क्षेत्र में हुए हमलों में 21 नागरिक मारे गए। बीते दिन हमलों में तेजी रूस द्वारा नौ मई को ‘विजय दिवस’ की तैयारियों के बीच आई है। नाजी जर्मनी पर सोवियत संघ की जीत को ‘विजय दिवस’ के तौर पर मनाया जाता है। इस साल दुनिया की नजर इस बात पर है कि क्या रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन इस अवसर का उपयोग सीमित जीत की घोषणा करने के लिए करेंगे या व्यापक युद्ध के लिए “विशेष सैन्य अभियान” का विस्तार करेंगे। पूर्ण युद्ध की घोषणा करने पर पुतिन ‘मार्शल लॉ’ लागू कर सकेंगे और वे आरक्षित सैनिकों को भी युद्ध में शामिल कर सकेंगे। उधर, पश्चिमी देशों के अधिकारी यूक्रेन के साथ जंग में बड़ी संख्या में रूसी सैनिकों के हताहत होने की बात कहते रहे हैं। क्रेमलिन के प्रवक्ता दमित्री पेस्कोव ने बुधवार को इन अटकलों को खारिज करते हुए इसे मूर्खतापूर्ण करार दिया। यूक्रेन में नए हमलों के बीच रूस के सहयोगी बेलारूस ने सैन्य अभ्यास की घोषणा की है।

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials said 21 civilians were killed in the attacks in the eastern Donbass region. The spurt in attacks on the past day comes amid preparations by Russia for 'Victory Day' on May 9. The victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany is celebrated as 'Victory Day'. This year the world's eyes are on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will use the occasion to declare a limited victory or expand a "special military operation" for a wider war. Declaring full war, Putin will be able to enforce 'martial law' and he will also be able to involve reserve soldiers in the war. On the other hand, Western officials have been saying that a large number of Russian soldiers have been killed in the war with Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the speculation on Wednesday, calling it "stupid". Russia's ally Belarus has announced military exercises amid new attacks in Ukraine.

मिंस्क में रक्षा मंत्रालय ने कहा कि बुधवार को शुरू हुआ सैन्य अभ्यास किसी पड़ोसी को धमकाने के लिए नहीं है लेकिन यूक्रेन के एक शीर्ष अधिकारी ने कहा कि बेलारूस युद्ध में शामिल होता है तो देश कार्रवाई के लिये तैयार रहेगा। रूस जहां यूक्रेन के व्यापक हिस्सों पर हमले कर रहा है वहीं उनमें से कई हमले पोलैंड की सीमा के निकट स्थित पश्चिमी शहर ल्वीव पर केंद्रित हैं जो ‘नाटो’ की तरफ से आपूर्ति किए जा रहे हथियारों को देश में लाने का अहम मार्ग है। अब तक केवल छिटपुट हमलों का सामना कर रहे शहर में मंगलवार देर रात धमाकों की आवाजें सुनी गईं। यह अन्य जगह छिड़ी जंग के बीच बचकर निकले लोगों के लिए एक आश्रय स्थल बन गया था। महापौर ने कहा कि हमलों से तीन बिजली सब स्टेशन क्षतिग्रस्त हो गए, शहर के कुछ हिस्सों में बिजली ठप हो गई और पानी की आपूर्ति बाधित हो गई। दो लोग घायल हो गए। रूसी रक्षा मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता मेजर जनरल इगोर कोनाशेनकोव ने कहा कि रेल बुनियादी ढांचे पर हमले पश्चिमी हथियारों की आपूर्ति बाधित करने के लिए थे, जबकि रूसी रक्षा मंत्री सर्गेई शोइगु ने शीर्ष सैन्य अधिकारियों से कहा कि पश्चिमी देश यूक्रेन को हथियारों की आपूर्ति कर रहे हैं।

The defense ministry in Minsk said the military drills that began on Wednesday were not meant to threaten any neighbour, but a top Ukrainian official said the country would be ready to act if Belarus joins the war. While Russia has been attacking large parts of Ukraine, many of them are focused on Lviv, a western city near the border with Poland, which is an important route for bringing weapons supplied by 'NATO' to the country. The blasts were heard late Tuesday in the city, which has so far only been facing sporadic attacks. It had become a refuge for those who had escaped in the midst of a war that broke out elsewhere. The mayor said the attacks damaged three power sub-stations, power outages in parts of the city and disrupted water supplies. Two people were injured. Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said the attacks on rail infrastructure were meant to disrupt Western weapons supplies, while Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told top military officials that Western countries were supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Ukraine has urged the West to increase arms supplies ahead of a potentially decisive battle. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who had previously been slow to help Ukraine, said on Wednesday that his government was looking at supplying Ukraine with various weapons. The governor of the eastern Donetsk region, which falls in the Donbass region, said 21 people were killed on Tuesday in Russian attacks. Earlier on April 8, at least 59 people were killed in a missile attack on a railway station in Kramatorsk.
